Drawing Near to You

Father, thank you for waking me up with a song in my heart; truly Your love will never fail. Your love for me is extravagant. I worship You my God, always and forever. Thank You for the words of life I read in Your word and hear from Your Spirit. Bless my friends today and encourage them in ways that only You can. Thank you that You are near the broken hearted and when we experience the emotions and pain of the losses in our lives, You are close beside us, to comfort our minds and hearts when we allow You to do so. Gently remind us, and not so gently if that is what it takes, to focus on You and Your Son, our Mighty God, Risen Savior, our Prince of Peace. We need Your comfort, healing, and peace today in our lives and the lives of our families. We need them so that we can fulfill Your calling upon our lives. Help us to choose to draw near to You today, for You alone are our refuge in times of trouble. May we also choose to be content with where You have us at this present time and rely upon You to guide and direct our steps into new places and things when its Your perfect time. Let us not see too far ahead lest we try to skip over the steppingstones You have placed before us to build our endurance and character. I have been guilty of doing this more times that I like to admit Father. Build within us the patience to wait, and to do so with contentment, for impatience and discontentment is a burden to carry and most often serves us into ways that are not Your perfect will for us. Thank You for helping us each walk worthy of Your calling, and to remember that the greatest calling we have is to come and follow You. Thank You that You are mighty to save and this includes saving us from ourselves.
