A shard of rock, a mass of clay,
A lump of coal, which heats the day.
In quartz, in shale, and kimberlite,
In lava flowing from great heights.
In schist, in granite, at water’s rims,
Can be found precious gems.
For these are ordinary rocks, they are,
Though we do resemble them by far.
Just like inside them, gems are found,
We too have gems inside our bounds.
Produced by pressure, extreme heat,
They’ll slowly rise, and we’ll greet.
The precious gems our Father forms,
Through life’s hardships and great storms.
Do not fret to give all you are,
Surrender desires near and far.
So He can do His great work,
Denial of yourself don’t shirk.
And He’ll reveal those many gems,
Orchestrated from deep within.
Your life packed with trials and pain,
Those gems are meant for Heaven’s gain.
So freely share, as you find,
These precious stones from deep inside.
